348 Vermischtes Microsoft School Technology Innovation Centre Brussels Brüssel Mai 2013 Schloss Neubeuern at the Microsoft School Technology Innovation Centre Brussels We had the chance to visit the STIC together with the Erich-Gutenberg-Berufskolleg Cologne for two days end of May 2013. Mike Llyod gave us insight into the possible future life of a student and how schools worldwide try to change towards a more innovate teaching concept in collaboration with Microsoft. After a short introduction, Simon Desment guided us through the STIC with an overview of Windows 8, Kinect and Pixelsense.We had a lot of fun learning maths and training human memory with the Kinect features. Pixelsense is a good teamwork equipment, but we recognized, that special software, with features supporting the interaction with more doers, is needed. BYOD (bring your own device) is a possibility for schools to get more technology and better technological access in the classroom. However, we noticed that it is not quite simple having less control possibilities, different software releases, operating systems, resolutions, input modes and different access to technology. Cloud services are a necessary element to cooperate with own devices. To prepare the students for the 21st century and to have a survey of the achieved skill there are some privacy protection barriers in Germany which are nearly not solvable. We got a general survey of the Office 365 and Windows Azure cloud features from Oliver Zofic. Office 365 is an important part in ubiquitous always on learning strategy. It is important for all students to move from fixed timetables to individual and performance based individual timetables. This sounds good, but needs many effort and flexibility from teachers, students and conceptions. We realized, that our next steps are to evaluate and measure the 21st century skills, to create a strategy con- cept. With our inverted classroom concept we are on the right way, but for the 21st century it takes much more. All through Melanie Wiedecke attended us very well with knowledge and ideas. Das School Technology Innovation Centre (STIC) von Microsoft in Brüssel zeigt seinen Besuchern an Hand von Best Practice Beispielen, wie Technologie an Bildungseinrichtungen eingesetzt werden kann. Hier präsentieren wir wie innovativer Unterricht aussehen kann und wo Microsoft mit Trainings, Lehrmaterialien und speziellen Angebo- ten Schulen und Universitäten unterstützen kann. Gerade das Thema Cloud bietet zum Beispiel eine breite Palette Möglichkeiten, die von Bildungsinstitutionen genutzt werden kann und die Lehre entscheidend verbessert. Deshalb haben wir mitVertretern unserer zukünftigen PiL-Mentor-Schools – der Internatsschule Schloss Neubeuern und dem Erich-Gutenberg-Berufskolleg Köln – das STIC in Brüssel besucht. In einem zweitägigen Intensiv-Workshop rund um 21st CenturyTeaching & Learning, Schooling Enterprise Architecture, E-examination und Office 365 erhielten die Teilnehmer einen Überblick über unsere Produkte, Lösungen und Angebote für den Bildungsbereich. In Hands- on Demonstrationen zu Windows 8 und Xbox Kinect konnten unsere Gäste neue Ideen für die Implementierung von IKT im Unterricht sammeln. Michael Fees, EDV Leiter am Schloss Neubeuern: „Wir haben gesehen, dass wir mit unserer Schule auf dem richtigenWeg sind, unsere Schüler mit den für das 21. Jahrhundert nötigen Fähigkeiten auszustatten. Allerdings gibt es noch einige wenige Punkte die wir beachten müssen, um unseren Schülern die bestmögliche Lehre zu bieten.“ Michael Fees
